It's been almost 2 years since I started blogging on bloggers.com (here). Nonetheless, Its a huge headache to follow up and there is months I spend without a single entry and other's with 10 in a row. Now, I guess its time to move to the next level something more sophisticated and a bit professional.

I just got the domain name MoCorner.com which I'll be use from now on to post all my new entries. Am still working on the design though and I assume its will be ready to go during the coming couple days.

I've blogged so much about dusty weather this season. but, truly when the vision is blocked and you cannot leave the house because it becomes hard to breath. There is nothing else to blog about, today I was coming out from work and its the third day of nonstop flying dust so I decided to video tape from inside the car. I had my laptop in the backpack so i grabbed it and used the built-in webcam.

I was sleeping yesterday when all of a sudden I heard a noise that felt like a plane was landing on top of the house. I rushed to the front door and first thing I saw a table flying, our table was flying. I couldn't snap out of it at first, but i realized its the strongest sand storm I've ever seen. After only a minute or less its started raining and this is when the weather calmed down. Afterward, we noticed all the damaged caused by this single minute only where I live dozens of trees fall in the middle of the street. Few street signs couldn't handle the wind and break down as well & there was parts where large balls of ice filled the street (Gulf road). click here to see all the pictures I took on that day.

I don't know why moon capture appeal more at the early morning hours. At least to my camera's lens, I find this time is the best for taking pictures of both the moon and sunrise. I had to darken up the colors and minimize the exposure to get it to look that way, used iPhoto the simple tool built within iLife. Off course, second best thing to do when you get up this early is to go look for flying birds and if you are near the seaside you get to capture fishermen leaving and preparing to leave the Marina.

Yesterday Urood team started something extremely useful here in Kuwait. Its not just a brilliant idea but its truly creative and it came when most needed. Ever now and then I see posts and ads about blood donations and how it may save lives! Urood came up with a new section "Community service" part of the community service is the blood bank link.

All you have to do is, click on the link and type write your information and blood type. so, if someone is in emergency they can look up matches on Urood. I think, this is wonderful and everyone should participate in this great humanitarian service

The Honda experience

Its not a rental if that what you thinking because some how and over a weekend I suddenly decided that i need a car. I had plenty of options to choose from but I felt I their go for it now or I'll be delaying this for another 2 years.

Since college I've been using my Jeep & to be frank Its been a great ride for the past 5 years. I enjoyed every thing about that car although I really abused it! I've done things to that car am not proud of! and amazingly its still running and in a good shape. That's a car am not planning to sell, it’s a keeper!

Now, as for the Honda until now its been showing a success when it comes to engine performance. I would never think that a 4 cylinder can perform that well, the acceleration is incredibly good and even has a nice grip over the road. The interior is designed different from any Sedan from the same category, everything is so reachable and with huge buttons so you would never miss.

The one bad thing about and which most people find disturbing but for me it gives the car a sporty feel when driving. It is the engine sound and noise control, when you are driving a –Toyota – Camry from the same model you will hardly hear sound from outside the car including the engine. But, with the Honda its completely different because when you are driving at 120km/h you will feel it like on a rollercoaster & perhaps that’s why am enjoying it :)

Honda distributor or dealer in Kuwait is not the best, I had tough time buying the car and now am wondering how they would treat me if something goes wrong & I go back looking for spare parts. The paper work was delayed and every time I call and ask about the status they never gave me a straight answer, they gave me the car dusty & didn’t even wash it properly, the salesmen don’t really understand much about cars. When I first went to the showroom I was trying hard to extract information about the car, I was trying to know specification about the engine and the difference between each model. Yet, am very satisfied with my choice but really hope they would concentrate on training their staff more at Honda showrooms…

Facebook, Is taking over Kuwait

I've been myspacing for very long time now & I've noticed recently that everybody is making a switch or starting up a new profile at facebook. When I finally decided to join, I was really surprised for the amount of people I already knew and found on the network there.

Half my family members were signed up, colleagues at work, school mates and much more. facebook, is definitely a great tool to keep you synced and connected with people in your life. I would say they have created the most sophisticated privacy system, which allow you to set certain people to view certain objects on your profile and much much more.

Off course, Kuwait network is quite big and currently has more than 66,000 hidden and visible users. One of facebook awesome function is the ability to get statistics about your network (top tv, top movies, music, interest, books..etc) the picture above has a really weird figure I found and marked with red. It seems like many are not sure how to spell out "traveling" and it came twice on the chart on number 9 and 10. Then, what with Troy being the first on the movies chart? Its very messed up!

Luckily, I was off from work and I got a chance to go see the city lights and happy faces. If something I realized at this year it is that Kuwaities really know how to party and have fun.

Every radio I tune too I found some new songs & to be frank I've noticed that most these songs are so different from the past years. Although, It has been already 2 years since Sheikh Jaber passed away but in every song people still remember him. In every decoration you would see at least one thing about him, truly he was Ameer Alqolob.

Part of this year celebration, I decided to stop my car and drive my cousin behind me on a desert bike. He was handling the weapons reloading and aiming (foam) and I was planning the attack and run away strikes. It didn't end up nicely when we rolled over & I hurt few bones (huh).

Perhaps every one else noticed that this year National and Liberation days were much less activities. I remember in the past years there use to be many events and things to go check out, but I guess its fading out. I really hope next year will be better commitment and more passion invested in this holiday season. Because after all, I really enjoyed it getting attacked by a 20 teenager with foam guns was really fun...

Linux Guru's in Kuwait (KwtLinux diary)

Since I've started up the KwtLinux community it has been showing a very slow increase in visitors. Recently, I've done some updates to KwtLinux forums template, main page (wordpress) and added up couple new categories in the discussion board.

I've noticed that most Linux users in Kuwait are forced to work with Linux for work purposes. Well, there is few samples I've met through KwtLinux whom showing personal interest in Linux/Unix but its a fact that they are less.

In the past week I've wrote almost two very interesting blog entries on KwtLinux which perhaps you - reader - will find worth looking into the third entry was an announcement for KwtLinux group creation on facebook.

Today I passed by the Babtain showroom to see the new Nissan, XTerra. I got to admit Nissan did a great job releasing this model its far batter than any mid size 4x4 they designed before.

The new XTerra is designed in the US even the interior is more like an American car than japanese. If you look closely at the XTerra you feel you are looking at a Cherokee Liberty from Jeep it has almost the same shape but XTerra is much better looking.

Babtain are selling the fully loaded one at a price of 7,200KD and the mid one around 6,100KD yet I think the fully loaded is not worth the extra 1,100KD. The only difference you will get is the CD player, cruise control & 17" inch wheel rings (which looks very bad, I prefer the 15" inch). With a weather like this you should lock yourself & never go out, Its day 3 and the weather is not getting any better. I've done a huge mistake yesterday when I forgot my car window open while am in office, it seemed like someone intentionally threw bags and bags of sand all over the interior.

Steering wheel, gear, AC ports, seats and every corner in the car. I don't think this mess can be cleaned up!

Well, then I went on taking more snaps from inside the car and for my brother's bike which is left outside for the past 2 weeks. I've already uploaded a set on flickr here, drive carefully Kuwait!

Sharm El Sheikh, Where to stay

As I mentioned before if you can afford five star hotels go for it. Otherwise, there is a collection of hotels & resorts you can choose from stretching all over Sharm El Sheikh shore. The picture above is for Delta Sharm resort the service in there is horrible. The only advantage you get for being in Delta Sharm is freedom! meaning, in other hotels they won't allow you to have parties in your Chalet/room or invite friends over. Unlike Delta Sharm you can invite 10 people over, hang out & play cards in the balcony or just sleep over. Delta Sharm is not concerned about how many people inside the Chalet as long as you are paying the rent fully.

Delta Sharm location is not bad since its only 3 KM away from Naama bay, you can pick up a taxi from the main gate & will drop you at Naama bay for 15 Egyptian pounds (2$ US Dollars).

If you are planning to stay at a better hotel then go to Marriott beach resort located in the middle of Naama bay & only 2 minutes walk distance to the beach.

Sharm El Sheikh, Scuba & sea tours

There is a scuba diving center in ever corner of Sharm El Sheikh, you will be amazed of the number of packages & how organized it can be. One of the largest centers is Red Sea College which is located in the center of Naama bay. The center arrange trips to professional scuba divers to some of the best diving locations in the red sea. Including Ras Mohammed National park, Tiran, Sharks bay, Ship wrecks & many other locations.

If you are a beginner or curious you will get a nice intro dives around Naama coral reefs or even at Ras Mohammed National park. If you are looking for a best deal, then for 140 Egyptian pounds (25$ US Dollars) you can sign up for one of the boat trips from the Naama marina or through any tour guide center. This including launch (don't expect much) and transportation from and back to your hotel gate. There is mainly two most popular destination for these trips

Ras Mohammed national park, Trip will start at 8AM till 5PM & will have three stops two of them will be at Ras Mohammed, which is a MUST see when you are in Sharm El Sheikh. The crystal pure water is very amazing, you can snorkel around the boat and see countless number of fish and if you swim further to the shore, the coral reef will blow your mind.
Tiran Islands, It will start at same time from 8AM till 5PM & will have three stops as well. One of them will be near the Ship wreck which has amazing coral reef around it. Then, a stop at the Tiran island lagoon & back to Sharks bay shore.

In both trips launch will be served in the second stop. so, its better to grab some snacks before you get on the yacht.

A small tips if you are going on one of these trips,

Always remember your yacht name because when you get to location there is many yachts parked near each other & when swimming you can get mixed up which one is yours.
Before you get on the yacht ask the guy in the yacht the destination of the yacht. There was a mix up & they put us on a yacht going to Tiran island although we signed up for Ras Mohammed national park so, be aware!
If you are planning to do scuba diving. inform the guys from the center to sign you up on a boat with scuba equipment and get a master diver on the yacht with you. An intro dive should cost you 30$ US Dollars.

Over all, the Sharm El Sheikh experience was a great vacation, I really enjoyed the sea activities in all means.

Its a great hassle when it comes to finding a decent place to dine. Naama bay is truly packed with literally hundred of restaurants & coffee shops. but, you really got to be careful with your choice..

Well, there is always the fast food choice like Cook door, McDonald's, KFC & Pizza-Hut. But, you will always want to try something different and since you are on the shores of the red sea you will definitely fancy some seafood.

Seafood, I must tell you the seafood in Sharm El Sheikh is way too expensive, its even more expensive than in your own country. Yet, there is nothing special about it, its just the same recipes every where else. If you are planning to try some seafood then let me give you some facts about the cost & best places to go. It will probably cost 400 Egyptian pounds (80$ USD) to dine for 3 persons, but always read the menu on the restaurant entrance to have an idea of rates.

Mexican bar, Its probably one of the best places we ate at. Its a bit expensive but its worth every penny specially with the nice atmosphere & neat menu. The service is a nightmare & they don't attend to you right away but once you are in Egypt you will be used to such services so don't panic.

Sharm El Sheikh, Intro

The the only place I was never planning to go too. Turned out Sharm El Sheikh is truly a divers paradise, the timing & planning was rushed we had to get all the booking done within 2 days. Which is a very bad idea, you really must plan things at least one or two weeks ahead when going to Sharm El Sheikh. Because if you don’t, they will rip you off..

First thing you will notice about Sharm El Sheikh that it is completely different from any other Egyptian city. The small cute looking airport will make your day, plus you will see a very welcoming faces from officers and airport staff when arriving. The moment, you step outside the airport things will start looking different for instance be careful from airport taxis. Make sure you tell him where you are going and agree for a rate it should not be anything more than 80 Egyptian pounds (16$ USD).

Off course Sharm El Sheikh is packed with all kind of hotels you can find very cheap ones and you can go for the extremely luxurious ones. Well, picking a hotel is very important specially when it comes to location. Sharm El Sheikh center and the most alive area is Naama bay which is located 5 KM away from the airport. Unlike other areas Naama bay is extremely organized, If you decide to live near Naama bay you will have access to many things just by walking. Off course the beach is on the top of the list with its calm and crystal pure water, or the many restaurants & bars which lights up Sharm El Sheikh in the night.

Well, for us we had no option accept to stay at Delta Sharm which is 3 to 4 KM away from Naama bay and because we had to go down to Naama every day I rented a car.

In a nutshell, Sharm El Sheikh is a great destination & very affordable compared with other countries. In the upcoming entries I’ll write about Delta Sharm, renting a car in Sharm, food, activities & more other things.

The other day I was passing through Canada-Dry street in Shuwaikh after mid night heading to Mcdonalds & I saw this new place opened up right in the beginning of the street near the car washes. Well, I had no other choice so I took the risk to try their menu. I would say they are the best fast food place in Kuwait, I got the MB Club sandwich and turn out very nicely.

First of all, I would like to wish every reader, family member and a friend a happy and blessed Eid. As for me, I've spent a very delightful morning with my family, although I was awake all night working (as usual) but seeing almost every one and specially the little kids was quite nice.

The thing I really enjoyed during this Eid was early in the morning when I saw this guy running after his goat in the middle of the street. It was a hilarious thing to see, his car was stopped in the middle of the road, and he was running between the cars trying to catch the escaped goat. I've never knew how fast goat can run until I saw that poor guy hehe.

Afterward, I was really happy to see all the little kids in the family. The majority are so adorable I could never get enough of them. Off course, over dosing on chocolate is mandatory..

I admit that I've not installed a Linux/Unix on my personal machines since I switched to Mac. but, my passion to get in the command-line mode has never gone away since I spend 8 hours at working doing so and yet I do run the terminal on my Mac machine every now and then. Kuwait Linux community came after the successful launch of Kuwait Mac community, there are lots of Linux/Unix users out there who's looking for a decent place to put their thoughts and share their experience. Only yesterday we've finalized the KwtLinux logo which was created by Guillermo.

Am certainly sure KwtLinux will be a great hit! stay tuned for updates..

shrimps recipe

After long hours of working and working and working. I finally came to my senses about having a day to relax and call in some friends. Started up little late after I picked up Majed and went to the local fish market.

Then the guys did something amazing with those shrimps, the recipe were very discreet. but, I managed to tell few flavors plus I was there helping out. After they cleaned up the shrimps we got garlic, lime, salt and little spices mixed together. I think, the garlic was a bit more than usual because I could feel the garlic heat. However, there is serious plans to repeat this experience only this time we will eliminate steaks from the picnic and stick with the shrimps!

Today I was on my way to the office, passed by starbucks in the building and there was this smell. It hit me straight in the head, I followed my nose to the source and it was "Toffee Nuts late". Last year, I've been to starbucks countless times just get one almost every morning.

This movie had a unique thing going on. Denzel Washington was playing the lead roll in this movie, As far as I understood its based on a true events. It might not be everyone movie there was lots of violent, nudity, drugs..etc. despite all Denzel was the man for this movie, he showed a great characteristic and family values.

One of my favorite moment in the movie was when Denzal was giving advice to his nephew and brothers. He said, "Most important thing in business is honesty, integrity, hard work, family and never forget where we came from".

iPhone experience: SSH terminal

G'day, This is just mind blowing and couldn't resist not sharing it with you guys. How to get your SSH terminal running on your iPhone. first of all you will need to install three application and you must do them in order.

1. BSD Subsystem (size 6.6 MB - Unix tool for the iPhone)
2. OpenSSH (size 696.3 KB - OpenSSH server & client)
3. Term-vt100 (size 81.1 KB - vt100 terminal app)

Once all the above is installed you will immediately find the terminal icon appears on your dashboard.

The iPhone experience, phase one

Yes, finally i got my hands on one of those. I was very thrilled to start using the new iPhone from Apple. At first, the phone looks incredibly elegant and fun to use. Any who, until now I've come up with a list with features i like the most and i hate the most.

Lets start with the ones I like the most
1. Amazing keyboard for typing messages.
2. Rich graphical interface.
3. Great video player - Resolution-wise - & cover float view.
4. Huge storage space for your movies to carry around.
5. Easy to setup mail services.
6. Installer to Add/Remove applications.
7. Amazing Alarm system.
8. Youtube application for streaming live videos and searching youtube database.
9. Synchronize perfectly with you Mac address book, Calendar..etc.
10. Since its based on Unix its allow you to install most the unix famous applications as HTTPD, SSH server/client, perl, php, python..etc.

Now the ones i don't like
1. Runs out of battery quickly.
2. Cannot forward SMS nor you can send to multiple recipient at a time.
3. Cannot customize the email checking process.
4. Cannot configure your own ring tone accept through iTunes store.
5. No google maps support for the middle east.
6. Cannot use the bluetooth to send/receive nor connect to your Mac.

beach volleyball, first place!

Last week I was playing beach volleyball, the weather was blowing cool air, the sun light was keeping the sands warm and the energy was like nothing else. Good thing though I reached there exactly one hour before the volleyball matches starts (Hilton Mangaf). And yes, we won the first place in volleyball!!

It was far away from my expectations since the other teams were playing pretty good. On the semi final we took the lead with one score difference and on the finals the other team decided not to compete and call it a day. By default the trophy and 15KD Cheque went to us. YEY!

I feel guilty for not keeping my posts maintained in the past month. Specially, that Eid was in the middle, I had good things going on that time and wanted to blog them but due to busy hours. Well, I didn’t!!!

As far I remember it was a very nice kick, the chocolate we had this year is a complete turn on. During the first two days of Eid I’ve eaten chocolate more than what I eat in 2 years. In above picture you can see my cousin son is in melting mood, this is when you take the first bite and all your senses start mixing up! he didn't even remove the cover for GOD SAKES!!!

Well, there is nothing much to blog about since all the excitement of the moment is gone now. I just didn’t want to miss on telling the world “Eid Mubarak”

Using Mac OS X - Terminal as FTP client

Many people don't realize the power of having access to command-line prompt. Recently, Apple has released all its Mac OS included an access to the command-line and since Mac OS is a Unix based this makes all the difference.

Now, if you want to use the terminal (shell, command-line) as your FTP client there is few things we should demonstrate here.

First of all, you will need to know the following information in order for you to access the FTP server. Host name (Domain name or IP address), username & Password. Now, Open your terminal and write to following command:

ftp kwtmac.com Connected to kwtmac.com. 220 FTP Server (A+Net) ready

In the next step you will be asked to enter you username then you will be asked to enter the password. Once you get the below message that means you are logged in:

230 User mughrabi logged in
Remote system type is UNIX.
Using binary mode to transfer files.

here are some useful commands you can use once you are logged in:
1. ls = can be used to list the files within the directory.
2. pwd = will show you your current location
3. cd = will allow you to get inside and outside folders.
4. get = followed by the file name, this will download the file from the FTP server.
5. put = followed by the file name, this will upload the file to the FTP server.
6. lcd = this will allow you to specify the directory where you want downloaded files to be placed and uploaded files to be picked up from.

I believe an example will help to understand better, lets say we have a folder "TEST" and there is this file "mo.php" you want to download and then you want to upload "info.php" which is on your desktop.

cd TEST ls get mo.php lcd /Users/Mughrabi/Desktop put info.php quit

This basic steps will allow you to access your FTP server, list files and folders, browse in and out from folders and download/upload files. Enjoy using your built-in command line interface and if you have any further questions please feel free to put them on.

Having a new desk is working for my advantage; the worst part of buying furniture from IKEA is that you have to build it once you get back home. I spent the entire evening with my brother putting this thing together.

Lately, I've been more organized than I use to be. I believe it has to do with the new thing am doing nowadays; I've decided to start writing my to-do's on a note book. And every time I remember something I'll write it there, on the first day I end up writing 2 pages of to-do. And it’s really working good, every day I take a look at what is left and work on them. Right now, I almost have one page already scratched as done.

One of the biggest advantages of being in Turkey, Tekirova is the hotel systems. Considering the size of the city the hotels in that area are mostly resorts. Once you are inside, you will never need to go outside the hotel borders for anything. Most the hotels in that area offer full board stays including breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, open bar and free beach towels.

All the hotels in that region are located near the beach, from 3 stars to 5 star luxury hotels. We checked-in at Sirius hotel a 4 star decent package, within 100 meters from the beach.

Majority of guests were Russian or at least Russian speakers. You can rarely pop into someone who speaks English; only two persons in the entire hotel spoke good English. One of them was the waiter…

The breakfast buffet was useless there was nothing to be eaten accepts fruits (how hard is it to prepare fruits, any way?). Otherwise the lunch and dinner they often had one or two dish where you can actually enough.

I just came back from Turkey, a vacation which lasted for almost 8 days. It felt so much less because of all the connecting flights and the good time off course.

To be frank I never thought I'll go to turkey again, I've been there few times before and most my previous experience was terrible to repeat them. But, this time it was completely different perhaps the group was making this much better. Plus, Unlike the other visits I didn't follow the normal touristic root this time. I've been to a different city near the sea "Tekirova" which is 50 km away from Antalya city and 70 km from Antalya Airport.

I thought this time I won't post everything about the trip at once. Instead, I'll write this post in general and other posts about specific topics I feel it's worth bringing up...

Flying with turkish airlines is not the most pleasant experience. In the international root (Kuwait to Istanbul, Istanbul to Kuwait) the planes were new and the pilots were very skilled in the landing and take off. but, the domestic flight was a nightmare the plane seemed like never been into maintenance before. During the landing the chairs were shaking, roof, almost everything. If you got flying phobia you should never get on a domestic flight!! NEVER!!

Landing in Antalya, the airport is designed in a way it's small and very together. You don't even need to ask anybody it's easy to walk in and out since you can see the entire dimensions from where you standing.

Transportation, from the airport there is no public transportation, I was told there is buses but I never saw any. I was forced into one of the Taxi's, the good thing though near the taxi station you will find a big board with the exact cost for each area you heading. Written in Euro, Dollar and Turkish New Lira it will give you a clue of how much you are supposed to pay.

On board I've met with the best company ever, on a personal level it was amazing to meet Tania. In General, the entire group was fun, easy going and very chilled. I learned few words in Russian and am planning to dig more, in the beginning it was hard to make out if the sentence is over or if its only a pause. If this trip lasted for another 10 days I would blogged this paragraph in Russian (wink).

The fact that I paid for a camera more than my laptop is annoying me. This is one reason, am thinking to uprgade my laptop sometime very soon. Yes, I've got the new Sony Alpha (DSLR-A100) and it's a beauty, luckily am going to Turkey on the 21 of August so I'll be taking loads of pictures.

Since, I got the camera yesterday and I've been practicing all the functionality and modes. Upon buying I got two lenses the ordinary lens and another one with 300mm zoom. I enjoyed using both of them,

Climbing wall

Yesterday, I experienced something new, I went for wall climbing with my brother's. it was an extremely hard thing to do, it's not as easy as it looks.

Well, you definitely can go up once or twice. but, then you break down It requires a very strong grip. The new place is equipped with the best tools and it has 4 different levels to climb. You start with number one as easiest and then go to 4th which is kind a of impossible to do.

Sun Solaris workshop

For the past couple weeks I've been busy attending the Sun Solaris workshop. It was quite boring in the beginning but, I managed to entertain myself, the information I gained is mostly what I enjoyed. It was also a chance to break out the shift routine, and best of all I got an opportunity to meet up with fresh minds from different departments in the organization.

The class was given by Amer Saleh which came on special request from Egypt. Amer working for Oracle egypt and he plays a major role as Unix consultant.

Mainly, we covered issues related to Unix Administrator level one and two. There was extra one day we spent getting some shell programming done, basics as well for the advanced level. Yet, we finished a one month books in almost 8 days!

On the last day, I had my camera with me, i've taken nice pictures and uploaded the good ones on special set at flickr click here to list all the pictures.

As for now, I'll be getting back to the old me...

He drove us to the back street of the hotel so then he stopped the car and asked us to continue from here:))

Yes!! Living stone.. I was amazed when I first heard about it.

The living stone grows in Malaysia, I don't know if there is else where.. but, this kind of stone actually grows!.. just like a tree.. In Malaysia you will find special shops selling this kind of stones.. it requires water and light to live and grow bigger.. the amazing part is, it grows really fast and you can see the difference, the colors keep on changing and a crystal will start shaping around it.

I went out to grab snacks from the near by supermarket and believe it or not. It was after midnight and the temperature almost 37 degrees. I guess, the weather here is very hard to get used too there is no such thing called season. The only thing we experience is 8 months of unbelievable heat and 4 months of unbelievable cold.

After they took down the old Salmyah Cinema this what they left behind. Actually, they managed to move the oldest cinema projector they had on show there to Sharq cinema. Here the sign says the projector was running from 1954 till 1959 which is impressive!!!

After lunching Kwtmac.com I was not expecting the growth to reach this amount in such a short period. Even the forums users arranged for some sort of a gathering where we got to meet each other and discuss issues related to Mac.

Last Tuesday (8th of May, 2007), I attended the first gathering at SECOND CUP café near BORSA market. Well, in the beginning we got enough time to introduce ourselves and know each other. There was some Q&A corner…

Yeah and there was a give away DVD – Software collection – special thanks goes to BigMac for his outstanding effort.

Eventually, we shot a group picture using terrible phone camera – MINE – which ended up to be quite fine.

It's almost a week of waiting to the movie to be released. I was SHOCKED!

I found out that the story behind the 300 Spartans are not limited to this particular movie. In 1962 a British movie was released with the same exact story (The 300 Spartans).

Technology in movies production has moved ages since then. The current 300 movie going in theaters now, is completely different from any other historical movie I have seen.

The story is about the battle of Thermopylae an amazing incident. When the King of Spartan Leonidas led an army of 300 men to a battle against the Persian army. It was a battle of glory, "Spartans taught never to retrieve, never to surrounded. Taught the death in a battle field is the greatest glory he could achieve", Those are the words of Leonidas.

I was really expecting a better result (hehe) turned out the camera I was using is hardly functioning. 10% of the roll was noised - as the one above - the rest were miserable. The fact of going underwater is not reasonable for human brain to process, just like when aircrafts were invented. But, when my goggles started sinking under water, I found out there is much under there to see. The underwater-life is extremely beautiful, and not just the life! The rhythm all these creatures make is just amazing.

Eventually, I realized that beneath the surface is the most exciting part of all.

The fishing harbor visit was a complete success. After such long walk and awesome roll of picture you definitely need a coffee. so, when we got to StarBucks on the Marina side (Sharq) there were Harley Davidson festival going on. A lot of people came from all over the GCC on their rides, press and other fans.

The crowd was reasonable and gave me a good chance to roll another 13 picture. The bikes were from new models and from all colors and shapes, including Choppers. I had to document all this on photos.. You can check them out on my flickr set..

Movie break: Ghost Rider

Two weeks back I went to theater for Ghost Rider. Before I go ahead and niggle in the details, I always believed that movies only worth going to theater when the direction is extremely good. And by extremely good, maybe a wild imagination that was put so good even your eyes won’t believe!

Fiction or non-fiction it’s not important as long as cameras are detailed, graphic are stunning and off course sound track that takes you to another dimension.

Moving on to where we were, the movie was quite a shock to me. I never seen Nicolas Cage in such a role, I thought he was really getting old for that kind of stunt. Although, most the movie a graphical designed character was playing the role.

Off course with SonyPictures producing the movie you will obviously notice the amazing and very detailed editing.

Last time I blogged was in the Airport on my way to start a vacation, and as far as I remember I said something about maintaining my blog on a daily basis. Well, that did not happen :)

Things were shaky plus I wasted too much energy every day seeing new things and doing as well. By the end of the day I was desperate for a sleeping marathon.

The trip to Malaysia:
It was extremely gorgeous – the country – from the moment we arrived to Kuala Lumpur airport things was going great. The airport is really massive equipped with cutting edge technology; we even had to take a train to travel from a terminal to another. So, you can imagine what sort of airports am talking about.

We spent in Kuala Lumpur two nights. There is nothing much in Kuala Lumpur for tourist. Accept seeing a modern, clean, organized city. What really amazed me is, the harmony Malaysians has, living together! I mean, a community built on different races.

Off course one the best things we came across in Malaysia. The next day we woke up looking for a decent coffee house to have breakfast and wake-up doses – coffee – and the next thing we see, Mahathir Mohammed the former prime minister of Malaysia.

Malaysians are such friendly people, welcoming and it’s a totally safe to go for a walk any time. Hotels were a bit expensive but it is what I expect from such a city, although food is delicious and cheap. You can hoop to any local restaurant, close your eyes and point something from the menu! Somehow it turns out to be delicious. They use a lot of spice on their menus. Off course you can always go for the fast food and there is plenty of other choices Italian, Mexican, etc.

Genting Highlands:
A taxi from Kuala Lumpur to Genting Highland will charge 80 Ringgit, which is quite good for one hour drive. The taxi will not actually drop you to Genting Highlands itself, it’s a cable car station then you can continue with 5 Ringgit, the trip will take another 30 minutes.

Its totally different weather, the city is built on mountings and has a beautiful forest covering everything around you. The concept of Genting Highland is a typical entertainment city. Every kind of video games you can find there, plus roller costar which by the way rated as one of the best riders in the world.

Hotels are way too cheap, the one recommendation I would give. If you want to visit Genting Highland just make sure it's not foggy before you go!

Malaysia Pictures

Thailand (Pattaya):
OK, this was not planned at all. Suddenly we decided to go Thailand the main reason off course because it's so much cheaper over there. Within one hour and 45 minutes by plane we were at Bangkok airport, off course we had to return to Kuala Lumpur to arrange the ticketing and everything else. The moment we got there we hired a Taxi to Pattaya, took 2 hours to get there and charged 1,500 Baht.

Thailand – Pattaya – is a totally different from what you see in Malaysia. The country is a mess! Very poor and every thing is cheap. What I really enjoyed about Thailand, that you literally can do any thing you want. It's loaded with activities and most of it is very cheap.

The beach is extremely gorgeous, and has plenty of places to set and chill. You can rent bikes to go around since the roads are quite small and it's much better going through on a bike or a scooter.

My favorite's activity was going to this Island by boat; you will find plenty of boats waiting to pick up customers. It will cost 1,800 to rent the boat for you, will take you to three Islands the first one you can do under water walking and its quite fun. Then to another you can rent guns to shoot on targets which we didn't do, then to another Island which has the most beautiful beach I ever seen. The water was crystal pure and the sight is a breath-taking. There is a nice restaurant there, will serve fresh sea food (shrimps, hamoor, craps).

Another favorite is taking a scuba diving. It's incredibly cheap, with 4,000 Baht they will take you for three dives and they will give you the lesson on the boat going to the Islands. Off course, the place is gorgeous, crystal pure water. The staff from different countries (UK, Brazil) and were really friendly. The under water life is way too beautiful to describe, off course I was in a total mess not knowing how to use all the equipment on my back but once you start going down. Let's say, you just stop thinking about anything else :) I took some under water pictures I just didn't get the film done yet.

We are here in Pizza express after all the check-in process was over with Emirate airways. It went smooth accept for the fact that me and my cousin has the same first and last name. So, check-in officers were a bit confused signing two people with the same name on board...

You could never ask for a better place, am again with my abstract. After a year of working constantly with a real hectic schedule, It can gets very frustrating when you are arriving back home on mid night and flipping channels in hope of something good might come up.

I have decided to pull off couple of weeks, for a complete brain shut down procedure. So, am very much expecting lost of data during the process, but what the heck

I was hoping to spend this vacation with my cousin since we can get along quite good. After a long discussion about the destination, we finally settled for Malaysia. I'm planning to keep a daily entry when am on board – will attach couple of pictures as well – but this is the plan! Actual could be a complete different situation.

This year 2006 is quite a year, in my life there was so many things going on - Good stuff - but around the world. News kept popping up with awful incident happening from everywhere. Accept Australia! You never hear anything bad happen in Australia!

That’s one reason why I want to move to Australia. They don't even have natural disaster.

Let's get back to where we were. I realized something! the more you dig into news and websites! you are just brain washed by the media. Which controlled by rich people and big governments, as far as it seems.

A child can get killed in front of a camera lens and that’s fine, but when a soldier with dozen of tools carried on his shoulder on his way to kill someone – in the name of making peace and order – and gets scratched. This is big; there is absolutely no way to explain anything any more.

So, I came up with one conclusion, instead of focusing on news to see who won today or what’s going on in the world. I decided to do the same with my everyday life activities,

Head line “Mo watching a movie with friends tonight”, the details you can live it, at least you know it’s true :)

Off course, I loved about last year is getting the chance to explore some other cities my first destination was Greece (Athens). On May 2006 I spent there 8 fantastic days, a whole different culture and people! you die for. Its like they got born with a logo of simplicity attached to their foreheads. The ancient history has scrolled every part of the city making it a peace of art!

Then for few times visited Dubai for first time on 2006. It became my frequent destination with all the modern and advanced life, Dubai a city should be proud of. Emirates made Dubai the ultimate city :)

Then my 6 hours (plan switch in Bahrain) I like to this about this 6 hours as if never happened :)

In 2007, my plans is to see more as possible as it says, “the world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page” by Saint Augustine.

Am also planning to making the best out of this year, books I have tagged to be read, courses – within IT field – to be taken, etc.

Finally after he got his previous car into several heart attacks he decided to buy a new one. Its quite nice so far, and suites his character, the thing i love about this Toyota that you can run MP3 files from a burned CD within its original player!! FANTASTIC!

The Ultimate city, cutting edge technology among the around cities. Although the weather there is pretty awful, you would not stand couple of minutes being open-door. They themselves "locals" know that very well, see the picture. its the amazing in door - man made - skiing hole! STUNNING WORK!

OK, after all this abstract with my vacation i end up going to ATHENS! there is many things to tell about it. but i rather not to say every thing together i'll sattle for this morning when i woke up and went to the roof for breakfast! you can't see the roof, neither can't see the breakfast in this picture but you can see how much i been sleeing. My eyes are almost going to pup out from my head.

Vacation Abstract!

Having a vacation is awesome, planning the vacation SUCKS! Lately i been planning mine when first accord to me (the idea) I had no doubt about my destination it was going to be Ukraine i had a friend who lives over there and it was a chance to meet up and have some fun. then my friend called it off for reasons am not much aware of then later another friend comes up to me and ask me to join him to Romania he brings me promotions and pictures from his brother visit and convinced me to join!

but shit happen! he call it off too!, now am stuck alone in a trip but i was like "hell with it, am going!" so, I started getting myself together, apply for vacation and I GOT THE APPROVAL! so far things was going smooth! I had no problems going there alone i was going to go and meet new people - NATIVES - and just chill from work.

then I call the travel agency to check the plane timing "couldn't get it from the ticket" and the dude asks me if i have done my visa which off course I didn't do!

the bad news was the visa takes over a 45 days to get done through the Romanian embassy! WHAT THE HELL! - If i was going to the moon visa will take less time!! - and am already up that so, any ways, the people at the embassy was friendly and the romanian air ways they helped me to get it done faster now they promised me it will be done within couple of days before my flight! which scares me!

any ways, I will try to keep every body updated with this WEIRD trip even when i go there i will post pictures on a daily basis.

Dwanya

Today am having a very long day I feel each hour passing like a year and all that off course because i didn't get enough sleep yesterday. any ways, yesterday i was chilling and laying around like a lazy cat in my room and a friend of mine calls and asks me to come over to his Dwanya!

I am not sure if every body reading knows what is a Dwanya so i will just give a brief about Dwanya's in Kuwait and the idea of it!

Dwanya's usually are attached to the house! it is a room which has it private entrance some times it is big room and some times it is small! In other words it is like the arabian pubs! with no beer in it!.. the dwanya owners will keep some entertainment items inside their dwanya which in some cases define which dwanya cooler to than the other one!, You will see these entertainment items are different from place to another! like adult will always keep cards and teenagers will keep a play station.

A TV is mandatory in each dwanya I have no idea why! the dwanya door will be open afternoon until mid night and some times on weekend it goes beyond that. usually a bunch of guys who knows each other from stone-age will be going there on daily basis! others will come once in a week! maybe talk!, play some cards and watch TV!,, hot drinks will be served like there is no tomorrow once you done with your tea another one will be replaced and you will not even notice! (I'm serious!)..
yesterday i had like half dozen of these small tea cups. but to be honest my friend Bader in his Dwanya they make the best tea!

Finally, when you enter a new Dwanya you always feel odd. You don't know what is the situation here! should i grab the joy stick and play some mortal combat! or should I go get the cards and shack the place a bit! just don't! drink your tea and chill!

The elevator & me

In the past couple of days I been working on a morning shift, waking up in the early morning is not the worst part of it. I will always have problems in coming on time you will be running to work and once I park my car and get out of it. I feel that is it! I'm here! I'm at work!. But, the fact is I only passed half the way to work! Now comes the elevator!

And the worst part of using the elevator when you wait for couple of minutes and then finally the door start opening you get quickly in thinking once you step a foot inside this thing will start flying up!, But it does not!, the door closes very slow! It is like the elevator telling you "Want to get there on time? Sorry, you have to wait for the door!"

Once I was waiting for the elevator and one person who seemed to me in a hurry shows up and he want to get down stairs now! so, he goes to the button which I pressed already (elevator button) and press it again and again and again!, WHAT IS THE POINT, Buddy? That will not get you the elevator faster! It is not like the elevator will be going down and on his way he will be like this person on the 6th floor is calling ME!!! I think he needs ME! I have to go and rescue him!

Blackberry in a mobile!

It is actually blackberry mobiles (cellular brand) but i have no idea why I put this title! I thought it sounds cool to think that there is an actual blackberry setting inside a phone somewhere!

This is the new generation of mobile telecommunication; Blackberry has so many functions it is like using your laptop and even more. It works on any network in the world! (Middle east, Unisted State, Europe and Africa). And the weird part this thing is huge! If you look at one of them it is like we are reversing in time! you can read more about it here

This is totally new for me and i think it is a great way to share your daily thoughts and diary with friends specially if you don't get to meet them much.

Actually blogging is such a unique way of talking though i didn't do it before but am having fun already. and the best part you will always have a reference for your life! I mean in the end of the year you can go through the archive and tell how bad was your year I will be like "Hmm this year sucks! I have to stop hanging out with .."

I will be posting articles about myself, friends and Kuwait. since am from Kuwait I will be writing about the people in Kuwait, places in Kuwait (shortest one) and some other things. so, If you are one of my friend and you are reading this you have to know by the time you complete reading this articles you have agreed to leave comment! and not just any comment! it must be nice or i will freak out!!!
